Tenerife Summer Vacay | Travel Guide

Another place has been ticked off my bucket list – Tenerife! It is such a popular holiday destination, especially in the summer, so I really wanted to visit! My boyfriend and I really wanted a relaxing beach holiday after our little city break in Dubrovnik, so this seemed like the perfect place to go.

Accommodation:

We stayed at the Panoramica Heights hotel in Costa Adeje, south of Tenerife. Costa Adeje is a great place to stay if you want a peaceful, quiet getaway but still have access to busy streets and beaches outside your doorstep. It is very close to the major touristy city, Playa de las Americas, so you can always pop down there for a visit if you’re feeling adventurous.

The hotel we stayed at was, to our surprise, on top of a high hill (which we didn’t find out until we arrived as they didn’t state it on their website). So we had to take a taxi back and forth to get anywhere as it was a trek to get down. Aside from that, the aparthotel was a reasonably nice place to stay; the rooms were very spacious and clean, and we did have a lovely view from the rooftop. There was also a small grocery shop and a buffet restaurant there for convenience (but we don’t recommend going to the hotel restaurant as the food there was pretty poor).

Activities:

We visited a few beaches around the area such as Fanabe beach, which was just down the street from our hotel. The weather was so hot so it was really nice to relax on the beach. There’s a lot of restaurants and cafés in Costa Adeje, so food was never an issue.

Siam Mall is the place to go to get groceries and do a bit of shopping. They also have a lot of restaurants there too, and their prices were pretty reasonable.

We headed to Playa de las Americas to check it out, but it was pretty dead and there were hardly any tourists, which was actually surprising as it’s supposed to be one of the main tourist attractions.

We spontaneously decided to go jet-skiing one day, and it was so much fun! We’ve never tried it before, but it was a great experience. It was one hell of a bumpy ride though as the waves were really strong, and it does make your arms ache afterwards as you need a lot of strength to keep the jet ski steady and not turn too fast as it could flip over. We did a little bit of snorkelling as well, although we didn’t see any fishes. There was a photographer on board to take all the lovely shots of us getting thrashed about on the jet ski, so that was all good! It literally takes a lot out of you though, as afterwards we were KNACKERED.

On the last day, we decided to go to Siam Park, which is voted the world’s best water park, so we obviously had to try it as it was literally like a 10 minute drive from our hotel. Although we had a lot of fun on the water rides, it was not as good as we thought as the park was pretty small (we walked half of it in under an hour), and the service and organisation was really bad as there were not enough lockers to go around (the queue was incredible) and people were getting lost just trying to find lockers as they were dotted around the park. But we had a great time and it was a good way to end our holiday in Tenerife!

Not to mention all the food we had – the paella was just too good!

We had an amazing time in Tenerife, it is definitely a great place for a summer break of relaxation! Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed this post!
