Hello 2018!

Happy New Year 2018! I know I’ve been a bit MIA on my blog for a while, I’ve been making a lot of changes to my website – I’ve finally plucked up the courage to make the move from Blogger to WordPress! *cheers* I’ve also gone self-hosted 😀 Although it wasn’t easy and there were a lot of issues along the way, I’m glad I’ve made the move and can really unlock the potential for my blog to grow with more tools that come with WordPress. I can’t wait to make even better content for you guys! 😀

So, how was my year in 2017? I’d say it was a pretty good year actually, it was the year where I was no longer a uni student and had to adult and get a proper job! It was the end of an era for me: the world of work had finally arrived at my doorstep. To be honest, I was glad I didn’t have to face any more exams and coursework from uni and was ready for work, although I do miss my uni friends and the shit we used to get up to XD Partying till 3am and deciding to skip lectures the next morning is no longer possible now in the world of work *sigh*.

World of Work:

After graduating, I found myself doing an internship in London for 2 months which was really great experience for me, and set me up with the skills I needed to land my full-time job, which I’m currently in now. I work for a biscuit company and am enjoying it. I am pleased to say I’ve worked here for a whole year now, which is the longest I’ve ever stayed in one job (my previous jobs were always part-time or work placements). So that is a big achievement for me! I’ve learnt so much along the way, met new people and went on a few business trips around the UK, including Blackpool, Edinburgh and Cardiff, which are places I’ve never been before.

Travel:

One of my new year’s resolutions from 2017 was to travel to more places, and I definitely did travel to a few places this year – Prague in Feb and Santorini (Greece) in May. Although that’s only 2 places abroad, I did travel a lot in the UK so that counts too right? XD Well hopefully I will travel more in 2018, but I think it will be around 2 or 3 holidays a year if I’m lucky. I’ve always got the travel bug in me though, so I think booking off short weekend breaks every few months would be a good idea in 2018 – it will help to satisfy my urge to travel and refresh my work routine (sitting at my desk in the office all day every day can get very mundane!) A change in scenery is always good for the soul

Lifestyle:

I’ve said before that I want to stick to a healthier diet and get into an exercise routine, and I’d say it’s coming along slowly, but these things will take time to get used to so I shouldn’t beat myself up about it. I’m definitely eating healthier by meal-prepping chicken salads for lunch sometimes to take to work, I don’t really snack much anyway, and having fruit every day has always been a habit of mine. Christmas has kind of screwed me over in terms of healthy diet, so I’m gonna have to get back into it! In terms of exercise, I’ve started doing Pilates but I need to incorporate more cardio into my workout routine as I’m too lazy to do it sometimes ><

Experiences:

There were a lot of first time experiences this year too, such as quad biking in Santorini, and going indoor skiing with my colleagues, which was a lot of fun! I’m always up for trying new things, maybe I should try and find a new hobby in 2018? (No, not knitting). I love reading but I haven’t been able to read many books this year 🙁 so I’ll try and pick that up in the New Year.

New Year’s Resolutions:

For my New Year’s Resolutions, I’m not going to make a long list that I can’t stick to, it’s literally going to be the same as for 2017 i.e. travel and healthier lifestyle, but also continue to develop my blog and blog more often. I’ve had the pleasure to work on some collaborations this year, so I want to keep that up! I also want to show a more personal side to my blog aside from my travel and lifestyle posts, like writing posts about self-improvement, gaining confidence, life quotes and also blogging tips – would that be something you guys would be interested to read? Let me know in the comments below what you think or if you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear from you!

What are your New Year’s Resolutions this year? Thanks for reading!
